SIM SIM's Backstory
In the words of its founder
Sim = yes in Portuguese. This band is all about that Brazilian phonk. SUPER heavy beats with powerful, in-your-face lyrics. It's the kind of music you blast in your car and drive around to look all badass n' shit.
I love Brazilian culture and its thriving hip-hop scene and was inspired to start this project after going to see an exhibition about street art brothers OSGEMEOS at the Hirshorn in Washington D.C.
The music purely an arranged mixed of Splice loops that channel the phonk vibe.
I've never been to Brazil and so this band was my homage to that awesome country from afar. Yes Yes.
